My client had a built-in entertainment center in the other room and asked if we could match that color. Maple tends to turn yellow-orange in the sun so we chose to go with the darker tones in her entertainment center and kitchen. To start, we always tape off a large area surrounding whatever we are going to be spraying. My client wanted to be able to see the grain through the stain, so we stained the balusters first, taping off the lower section so the stairs didn’t get too dark with all the passes of my spray gun. The following day, we taped off the balusters and stained the steps.
